YEREVAN, May 16. \/ARKA\/.<\/strong> Investments of Armenia\u2019s commercial banks in securities grew 70.7% in the first quarter of 2017, compared with the same quarter a year before, according to a fresh issue of ARKA News Agency\u2019s \u2018Bans of Armenia\u2019 Bulletin.<\/p>\n

Since the beginning of this year, the bank\u2019s investments in securities have grown 0.85% to AMD 463.8 billion by late March.<\/p>\n

Investments make up 11.3% of the banks\u2019 aggregate assets.<\/p>\n

Investments in government bonds amounted to AMD 430.5 billion and made up 92.8% of the investments in securities in late March.<\/p>\n

The biggest investors in securities among Armenia\u2019s commercial banks are ArmSwissbank, Ameriabank, Ardshinbank, Armbusinessbank and Anelik Bank.<\/p>\n

The top five banks\u2019 investments in securities in the first half of 2016 totaled AMD 211.8 billion and made up 45.6% of the aggregate investments of the country\u2019s banks.<\/p>\n

ArmSwissbank\u2019s investments in securities amounted to AMD 62.8 billion in late March and their share in the total amount of the country banks\u2019 investments in securities was 44.67% – 1.46 percent more than in the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n

ArmSwissbank, along with classic bank services, also provides investment services and act as an underwriter or market maker.<\/p>\n

Ameriabank\u2019s investments in securities amounted to AMD 45.4 billion (6.5% decline), Ardshinbank\u2019s investments to AMD 38.7 billion (9.3% decline), Armbusinessbank\u2019s to AMD 33.2 billion (7.2% decline) and Anelik Bank\u2019s to AMD 31.5 billion (64.9% growth).<\/p>\n

Commercial banks\u2019 aggregate have shrunk 0.002 percent since the beginning of the year to AMD 4 093.1 billion by late March.<\/p>\n
