YEREVAN, April 5. \/ARKA\/. The amount of private money transfers sent to Armenia in the first two months of 2019 via banks stood at $259 million, an increase of $38 million, or 17% from the same time span of 2018, the Central Bank said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It said the amount of private money transfers sent to Armenia in February 2019 alone grew by 10.8% from the same month in 2018 to $140.2 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the same time, the amount of money transfers sent from Armenia to other countries in the first two months of 2019 increased by $21 million, or 12.1% to $194.4 million. In February alone, the outflow of money transfers was $93.1 million, by 6.1% down from the same month of 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thus, the net amount of money transfers to Armenia in January-February 2019 amounted to $64.7 million, a year-on-year increase of $17.1 million, or 35.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also the inflow of money transfers to Armenia from Russia grew by 2.5% to $123.6 million, and the outflow of money transfers to the Russian Federation grew by 57% to $92.4 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Central Bank, private remittances sent to Armenia in 2018 amounted to $1.785.6 billion (an increase of 1.6%), and private remittances sent from Armenia to other countries amounted to $1.188.3 billion (an increase of 20%).
