A total of $232.9 million worth non-commercial remittances were sent to individuals in Armenia from Russia in the first four months of 2009, by 11.9% more than in Jan.-April 2009 ($208.1 million), the Central Bank of Armenia said in its monthly bulletin for April, posted on its official website.<\/p>\n<p>The volume of non-commercial remittances from Armenia to Russia rose by 26.8% to $41.2 million (from $32. 5 million in Jan.-April 2009). As a result the net inflow of remittances from Russia to Armenia totaled $191.7 million from $175.6 million a year before. The growth was 9.2%.<\/p>\n<p>Russia accounted for 63.5% of all non-commercial money transfers to Armenia in the first four months of the year and for 21.9% of all money transfers from Armenia to other countries.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Central Bank data, a total of $367 million worth individual money transfers were sent to Armenia in Jan.-April, rising by 3.8% year-on-year. Remittances form Armenia to other countries grew by 9.7% to $188. 4 million.
