YEREVAN, June 23. \/ARKA\/. Pedro Rodriguez, a leading economist at the World Bank, thinks that the steps taken by Armenian government to buffer adverse impacts of the economic crisis have already produced visible results, especially in the construction sector.<\/p>\n
He said that the World Bank has supported Armenia\u2019s anti-crisis plan by implementing some programs.
\nRodriguez thinks Armenian government should maintain and strengthen this success.<\/p>\n
He said he had discussed with the economy minister prospects for effective usage of the country\u2019s capacity, especially export.<\/p>\n
The WB expert added that the World Bank intended to support Armenia in preparation for signing a free trade agreement with European Union.<\/p>\n
National Statistical Service of Armenia says GDP grew 8.8% in Jan-May 2010 to AMD 1016.8 billion.
\nMay\u2019s GDP is 14.3% greater than that of April.<\/p>\n
In Jan-May 2009, Armenia faced 15.7% economic decline.<\/p>\n
