{"id":128137,"date":"2020-04-10T14:36:34","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T14:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2020\/04\/10\/249297\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:41:05","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:41:05","slug":"pashinyan-calls-for-switching-to-settlements-in-national-currencies-within-eeu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2020\/04\/10\/128137\/","title":{"rendered":"Pashinyan calls for switching to settlements in national currencies within EEU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, April 10. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has again argued today in favor of shifting to settlements in national currencies within the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin Pashinyan proposed switching to paying for Russian natural gas in Russian rubles. Currently, Armenia pays in US dollars.<br>\nSpeaking during a videoconference of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Pashinyan said EEU member states should accelerate the adoption of measures to significantly increase the share of payments in national currencies when trading with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I believe that we must strengthen our union even in the face of the coronavirus pandemic and serious challenges of the growing recession,\u201d he said. Pashinyan said EEU should prove its viability during the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe must be ready to take advantage of all those economic opportunities that will obviously arise in the post-crisis period,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 16 Armenia declared a 30-day state of emergency to contain the spread of coronavirus.
