{"id":141024,"date":"2022-07-15T12:04:05","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T12:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2022\/07\/15\/250441\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:48:10","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:48:10","slug":"package-of-amendments-to-law-on-banking-secrecy-will-be-publicly-discussed-again-in-armenia-src","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2022\/07\/15\/141024\/","title":{"rendered":"Package of\u00a0amendments to\u00a0law on banking secrecy will be publicly discussed again in Armenia \u2013 SRC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, July 15. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>Armenia&#8217;s State Revenue Committee (SRC) said\u00a0today\u00a0it has withdrawn a package of\u00a0proposals,\u00a0designed to\u00a0amend\u00a0the Law on Banking\u00a0Secrecy and other related laws from the\u00a0single website e-draft.am, created for publishing draft legal acts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SRC said the package will be again placed for public discussions after some elaboration.&nbsp;Earlier, the SRC had said that the amendments would be sent for parliament&#8217;s approval after comprehensive discussions with the Central Bank and other interested bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an opposition MP Tadevos Avetisyan&nbsp;from Hayastan alliance, under the proposed amendments, tax authorities are to have direct and full access to information on the bank accounts of individuals and legal entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The&nbsp;populist and&nbsp;fictitious packaging of the amendments is all the same \u2013fighting against the shadow sector of the economy. In reality, the proposed amendments are meant as&nbsp;new&nbsp;tools of tax terror. Now they want to liquidate protection of bank secrecy, vesting tax authorities with powers of court,&#8221; Avetisyan wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These changes will very quickly lead to capital flight from the Armenian banking system.
