{"id":153247,"date":"2024-02-15T16:41:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T16:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2024\/02\/15\/251353\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:53:46","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:53:46","slug":"bank-of-georgia-in-talks-over-potential-acquisition-of-ameriabank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2024\/02\/15\/153247\/","title":{"rendered":"Bank of Georgia in talks over potential acquisition of Ameriabank"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, February 15. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>Bank of Georgia\u00a0confirmed on Thursday that it is in advanced talks with\u00a0Ameriabank\u00a0about a potential acquisition of the Armenian bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responding to press speculation, the bank said the potential transaction would be financed with surplus capital, without changing the company&#8217;s dividend and capital distribution policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The company will update shareholders as to progress made in relation to the acquisition as and when appropriate,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There can be no certainty that a transaction will be signed nor, if signed, concluded.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ameriabank confirmed to ARKA news agency that the negotiations were&nbsp;&nbsp;underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ameriabank is a leading financial and technology company in Armenia, a major contributor to the Armenian economy, with assets exceeding AMD 1 trillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bank of Georgia Group PLC is a UK incorporated holding company.
