{"id":156494,"date":"2024-08-14T13:53:55","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T13:53:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2024\/08\/14\/251659\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:55:34","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:55:34","slug":"silver-commemorative-coins-for-100th-anniversary-of-aznavour-and-125th-anniversary-of-kochar-put-into-circulation-in-armenia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2024\/08\/14\/156494\/","title":{"rendered":"Silver commemorative coins for 100th anniversary of Aznavour and \u00a0125th anniversary of Kochar put into circulation in Armenia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, 14 August. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>On August 15, 2024, the Central Bank of Armenia puts into circulation \u201c100th birth anniversary of Charles Aznavour\u201d and \u201c125th birth anniversary of Ervand Kochar\u201d silver collector coins.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CHARLES AZNAVOUR (1924\u20132018), prominent French-Armenian singer, songwriter, film actor, writer, and public figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aznavour was born in Paris to an Armenian immigrant family that escaped the Armenian Genocide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From a young age he had a strong interest in art. He began his professional career in the 1940s. In 1956 he gained universal recognition after performing at the Olympia concert hall in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his musical career, Aznavour wrote and co-wrote more than 1000 songs, including \u201cLa mamma\u201d, \u201cLa Boh?me\u201d, \u201cHier encore\u201d (\u201cYesterday, When I Was Young\u201d), \u201cSa jeunesse\u201d (\u201cThe Wine \u043ef Youth\u201d), \u201cShe\u201d, \u201cLes Deux Guitares\u201d (\u201cTwo guitars\u201d), \u201cUne vie d\u2019amour\u201d, \u201cAve Maria,\u201d and others, and recorded close to 1400 songs in various languages. Among the songs dedicated to Armenia are \u201cPour toi Arm?nie\u201d (\u201cFor You, Armenia\u201d), \u201cIls sont tomb?s\u201d (\u201cThey Fell\u201d), \u201cTendre Arm?nie\u201d (Tender Armenia).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aznavour appeared in amore than 90 films and has authored a number of books.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the devastating Spitak earthquake of 1988, Aznavour founded the Aznavour for Armenia association, and, in 2016, together with his son Nicolas Aznavour, created the Aznavour Foundation with the goal of implementing educational, social, and cultural programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has received numerous state awards and titles, including the French Legion of Honor (knight, officer, and commander ranks), a designation of National Hero of Armenia and the Order of Motherland. Beginning in 2009, Aznavour served as Armenia\u2019s Ambassador to Switzerland and as Armenia\u2019s Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Geneva.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aznavour\u2019s work is a unique interweaving of poetry, music, and acting. Around 200 million Aznavour CDs have been sold to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of Yerevan\u2019s squares is named after Aznavour, and a monument to him has been erected in Gyumri (sculptor: S. Petrosyan, architect: A. Tarkhanyan, 2002).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ERVAND KOCHAR (Kocharyan, 1899\u20131979), great Armenian artist, sculptor, founder of the Painting in Space (four-dimensional, kinetic painting), People\u2019s Artist of Armenian SSR (1965) and People\u2019s Artist of the Soviet Union (1976).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1909 to 1919, Kochar studied at the Nersisian School in Tbilisi, attended a school for painting and sculpture, and studied at the Free Arts Studios in Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kochar\u2019s early works, such as \u201cDe Profundis\u201d (1919), \u201cThe Adolescent\u201d (1919), and \u201cThe Italian Poet\u201d (1922) are notable for their originality and subtle sense of colors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1922, Kochar moved to Constantinople, then to Venice, and then to Paris. From 1923 through 1936, he participated in many exhibitions and held four solo exhibitions. In Paris, Kochar invented Painting in Space, one of the greatest achievements of avant-garde art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kochar is known as one of the pioneers of modern art who transformed previously held ideas about modern painting. He brought the highest professionalism to Armenian art, contributed to the overcoming of stereotypes and uniformity, and had a great influence on the development of Armenian visual and aesthetic thought. His works include the painting \u201cThe Disaster of War\u201d (1962), \u201cThe Eagle of Zvartnots\u201d memorial sculpture (1955, architect: R. Israyelyan), the statues \u201cMuse of Cybernetics\u201d (1972, architect: H. Kochar), \u201cVardan Mamikonyan\u201d (1975, architect: S. Kurkchyan), and the \u201cDavid of Sassoun\u201d statue (1959, architect: M. Mazmanyan) which has become a symbol for all Armenians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ervand Kochar Museum (established in 1984) operates in Yerevan.
