YEREVAN, December 23. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>Ameriabank\u2019s press office reported on Wednesday that the AMD 18 million (50,100) raised at Ameria Group\u2019s charity auction of children\u2019s pictures would be targeted for treatment of 13 Armenian children who suffer from cancer and blood diseases.<\/p>\n

The auction raised AMD 15.8 million ($14,100), but Ameria Group added AMD 2.1 million ($6,000) to this sum.<\/p>\n

Tigran Jrbashyan, Ameriabank development director, said that Ameria Group has decided to make such charity events regular.<\/p>\n

The Group proposed to children\u2019s homes and child art galleries to organize a charity auction of children\u2019s pictures.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of our partners and children have responded to our proposal, and we hope such auctions will become traditional and other organizations will join us,\u201d Jrbashyan said.<\/p>\n

Ashot Kocharyan, national director of SOS Children\u2019s Village Armenian Charity Foundation, said that the foundation\u2019s cooperation with Ameriabank has long years record, and this cooperation is constantly expanding.<\/p>\n

He said this cooperation is not limited to financial partnership and provided support to the foundation\u2019s foster children.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have taken part in some events,\u201d he said. \u201cThe event held on March 8 was most remarkable of them. Postcards with our children\u2019s pictures on them were issued. Later, Ameriabank provided about AMD 1 million for development of the foundation\u2019s programs, and postcards were sent to the bank\u2019s officers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ameria Group expressed gratitude to its partners, clients and employees as well as all the participants of the event.<\/p>\n

According to the press release, Ameriabank will release a report in January 2011on spending the donated money.<\/p>\n

The Ameria Group has already donated over AMD 3.6 million for treatment of four children. This sum was initially intended for New Year gifts for partners and clients.<\/p>\n

The group also thanked National Aesthetic Center of Armenia, the<\/p>\n

Fridtjof Nansen Boarding School, SOS Children\u2019s Village Armenian Charity Foundation, Orran Benevolent Nongovernmental Organization, Zatik Children\u2019s Home and foster children who drew these pictures.<\/p>\n

According to the press release, more than 100 children suffering from cancer and leukemia are in need of help.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are calling on all organizations and citizens of Armenia to join Ameria Group\u2019s initiative and donate money for holiday gifts for the 13 sick children, who need them,\u201d the press release says.<\/p>\n
