{"id":250162,"date":"2022-01-19T14:23:06","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2022\/01\/19\/250162\/"},"modified":"2022-01-19T14:23:06","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T14:23:06","slug":"armenian-parliament-elects-hovhannes-khachatryan-as-new-deputy-chairman-of-central-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2022\/01\/19\/250162\/","title":{"rendered":"Armenian parliament elects Hovhannes Khachatryan as new deputy chairman of Central Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, January 19. \/ARKA\/.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0By a vote of 65 to 5 Hovhannes Khachatryan has been elected today by Armenian MPs as new deputy head of the Central Bank of Armenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Khachatryan was nominated by the ruling Civil Contract party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to MPs on January 18, Khachatryan outlined a number of key areas of his work in his new position, including digitalization of the banking and financial sector, introduction of \u2018responsible\u2019 lending, protection of consumers&#8217; interests and giving a new impetus to the development of the securities market. Khachatryan supports also the issue of digital currency by the Central Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hovhannes Khachatryan was born in 1983 in Yerevan. He is a graduate of the Economics Department of Yerevan State University. He is not affiliated with any political party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2002-2008, he worked at the Statistical Department of the Central Bank of Armenia. In 2008-2020, he headed the Assets, Liabilities and Equity Department of Ameriabank. On July 23, 2020, he was elected to the Board of the Central Bank.
