{"id":251415,"date":"2024-04-01T14:11:25","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T14:11:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2024\/04\/01\/251415\/"},"modified":"2024-04-01T14:11:25","modified_gmt":"2024-04-01T14:11:25","slug":"central-bank-of-armenia-gives-preliminarily-consent-for-acquisition-of-ameriabank-by-bank-of-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2024\/04\/01\/251415\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Bank of Armenia gives preliminarily consent for acquisition of Ameriabank by Bank of Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, April 1. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>The\u00a0Board of the\u00a0Central Bank of Armenia\u00a0gave\u00a0March 29 a preliminary consent to the acquisition of a significant part in the authorized capital of Ameriabank CJSC by\u00a0the\u00a0Bank of Georgia Group PLC and GNC Bank of Georgia<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February 2023 Ameriabank reached an agreement with the BOGG (the Group), a UK registered financial group, to join the latter as a standalone entity and the Group to become the main shareholder of the Bank, with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (\u201cEBRD\u201d) retaining their 10% shareholding in Ameriabank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Financial Conduct Authority, the financial services conduct regulator in the UK, approved the circular of the transaction. As a next step, the transaction was subject to approval by shareholders, as well as the regulatory bodies, including the Central Bank of Armenia.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bank of Georgia Group PLC is a UK incorporated international finanacial group listed on the Premium Segment of the LSE Main Market and a constituent of the FTSE-250 index. Among the Group\u2019s shareholders are some of the world\u2019s largest financial institutions, such as JPMorgan, BlackRock, The Vanguard Group, Schroders, Norges Bank Investment Management (a leading pension fund), etc.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following approvals and closing of the transaction, Ameriabank will operate as a standalone entity within the Group under its own brand name and the current leadership in place, committed to Ameriabank\u2019s adopted strategic goals, values, mission and vision..&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the closing of the transaction and with Ameriabank on board,&nbsp;BOGG also intends to change its name marking a new chapter in its development.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About Ameriabank:<br>Ameriabank is a leading financial technology institution and a major contributor to the Armenian economy.
