{"id":267928,"date":"2025-11-03T09:16:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T05:16:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/?p=267928"},"modified":"2025-11-03T09:16:33","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T05:16:33","slug":"finance-minister-to-represent-armenia-on-aiib-board-of-governors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2025\/11\/03\/267928\/","title":{"rendered":"Finance Minister to Represent Armenia on AIIB Board of Governors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>YEREVAN, November 3. \/AR\u041a\u0410\/.<\/strong> Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan has been appointed as Armenia&#8217;s Governor on the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), according to a decree by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the same decree, RA Deputy Finance Minister Edgar Mkrtchyan has become Armenia&#8217;s Vice Governor on this governing body of the AIIB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Armenia&#8217;s Participation in the AIIB<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On January 15, 2025, the Armenian government approved a decision to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), acquiring a $37.4 million stake in the bank. Each share is worth $100,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On September 15, 2025, the executive body approved Armenia&#8217;s subscription to the AIIB, which entails the acquisition of stakes in the bank&#8217;s share capital \u2013 75 paid shares (worth $7.5 million, payable in 5 equal installments) and 299 demand shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the government, the subscription to the AIIB is important in terms of giving new impetus to the Armenian-Chinese political dialogue and creating opportunities for modernizing Armenia&#8217;s transport infrastructure through Chinese-financed investments. Joining the AIIB will allow Armenia to participate in major regional investment projects, collaborating with other multilateral and bilateral development institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>About the AIIB<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was founded in 2015 by China. It is a multilateral development bank with an authorized capital of $100 billion.
