{"id":273578,"date":"2026-05-25T22:06:52","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T18:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/?p=273578"},"modified":"2026-05-25T22:06:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T18:06:55","slug":"dram-pegged-stablecoins-will-significantly-reduce-cross-border-payment-costs-galstyan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2026\/05\/25\/273578\/","title":{"rendered":"Dram-pegged stablecoins will significantly reduce cross-border payment costs \u2013 Galstyan"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>YEREVAN, May 25. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>Stablecoins pegged to the Armenian dram will allow the population to make domestic payments and significantly reduce cross-border payment costs, stated Martin Galstyan, head of the Central Bank of Armenia, in response to a question from ARKA news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;From our perspective, this is important and the right thing to do,&#8221; he said on Monday, presenting Armenia&#8217;s financial stability report for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Galstyan noted that he does not consider the gradual penetration of crypto assets into Armenia&#8217;s traditional financial system risky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;One of the programmatic postulates for at least the next six years is that we must work in this direction,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Galstyan previously stated that the Central Bank of Armenia views stablecoins as a strategic priority and noted that the recently adopted law on crypto regulation demonstrates the Central Bank&#8217;s commitment to achieving a &#8220;golden balance&#8221; between consumer protection and the development of innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Law &#8220;On Cryptoassets&#8221; entered into force in Armenia on July 4, 2025. Work is currently underway to develop supporting legislation. The law establishes rules for cryptoasset trading, service provision, and market oversight.
