YEREVAN, September 28. \/ARKA\/. Dram deposits in Armenian commercial banks totaled AMD 256.5 billion in late August 2011, after shrinking by 0.6%, compared with the previous month.<\/p>\n

According to the information available at Armenian central bank\u2019s official site, residents\u2019 deposits amounted to AMD 246.9 billion and made up 96.3% of the total amount of drams deposited in banks.<\/p>\n

Residents\u2019 demand deposits contracted by 3.9% in August, compared with July, and amounted to AMD 133.7 billion (52.1% of total amount of dram deposits), while their time deposits grew 3.5% to AMD 113.3 billion (44.2% of total amount).<\/p>\n

Deposits in foreign currencies grew 11.3% to AMD 606.6 billion.<\/p>\n

Some 21 commercial banks operated in Armenia in late August. ($1 = AMD 370.38).-0—<\/p>\n
