YEREVAN, September 9. \/ARKA\/.<\/strong> Armenia’s public debt as of June 30, 2026, amounted to 5.12 trillion drams, compared to 5.30 trillion drams as of December 31, 2025, announced RA Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In dollar terms, the public debt amounted to $13.9 billion,” Hovhannisyan said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on financial, credit, and budgetary issues on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Finance Minister reported that during the first half of 2026, the public debt in dram terms decreased by 3.5%, while in dollar terms it remained almost unchanged, having decreased slightly due to exchange rate changes. “Since we have a budget surplus, we have deviated slightly from our debt raising plan. Issues were, of course, carried out, as the market must always have sufficient liquidity, but we slowed this process slightly given the accelerated growth rate of our revenues,” Hovhannisyan noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Finance stated that, in terms of public debt management, the authorities are focusing on issuing medium-term debt to manage debt servicing costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Armenia’s public debt<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Armstat, Armenia’s total public debt as of June 30, 2026, was $13.90 billion, compared to $13.91 billion as of December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government’s debt amounted to $13.89 billion, of which $6.62 billion was external and $7.27 billion was domestic. Community debt amounted to $8.37 million, including $7.96 million in external debt and $0.41 million in domestic debt. The Central Bank of Armenia’s external debt at the end of June 2026 amounted to $462.6 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
