YEREVAN, December 23. \/ARKA\/. Transactions effected at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange in November totaled AMD 740.9 million \u2013 14.8 times greater amount than that of the deals effected in the previous month.<\/p>\n
According to the information available on the stock exchange\u2019s website,<\/p>\n
Transactions on corporate bonds amounted to AMD 210.5 million in November and made up 28% of total amount.<\/p>\n
Deals on government bonds amounted to AMD 526.3 million and constituted 71% of the total amount, and those on stocks AMD 4.1 million and 0.6%.<\/p>\n
Arman Mlayan, chief of Araratbank\u2019s unit in charge of dealing, said this precipitous growth in transactions on corporate and government was due to the placement of National Mortgage Company\u2019s bonds and the central bank\u2019s activity.<\/p>\n
ARKA News Agency\u2019s analysis based on NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange\u2019s reports shows that transactions were effected on government bonds and two private companies\u2019 stakes and corporate bonds.<\/p>\n
NASDAQ OMX Armenia (former Armenian Stock Exchange, Armex), was established in 2001 as a voluntary merger of broker (dealer) companies.<\/p>\n
In January 2008, Nordic exchange operator OMX Group acquired 100% of shares of the Armenian Stock Exchange (Armex) and the Central Depository of Armenia (CDA). After NASDAQ and OMX merged in March 2008, Armex and CDA have become fully owned by the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc.<\/p>\n
On January 27, 2009, Armenian Stock Exchange was renamed NASDAQ OMX Armenia.<\/p>\n
