{"id":32986,"date":"2012-02-06T14:08:35","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T14:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2012\/02\/06\/234740\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T12:55:12","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T12:55:12","slug":"five-armenian-banks-own-45-8-of-banking-sectors-combined-assets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2012\/02\/06\/32986\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Armenian banks own 45.8% of banking sector\u2019s combined assets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN,\u00a0February 6.\u00a0\/ARKA\/. <\/strong>In 2011 five largest Armenian\u00a0banks\u00a0owned 45.8% or\u00a0950.1\u00a0billion drams\u00a0of the banking sector\u2019s combined assets, which on\u00a0December 31, 2011\u00a0stood at \u00a0about 2.1 trillion\u00a0drams, rising by 33.6% from a year earlier, according to \u00a0interim reports\u00a0of banks\u00a0for the fourth\u00a0quarter of\u00a02011.<\/p>\n<p>An ARKA analysis shows that over the past\u00a0nine\u00a0years the share\u00a0of five\u00a0largest banks\u00a0in the aggregate assets\u00a0of the banking system\u00a0has been gradually\u00a0reducing- from 54.14% in 2003 to 45.77% in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>The largest share of\u00a0top five\u00a0banks\u00a0in total assets\u00a0was recorded in\u00a02004, when they held 55.44% of all assets and the\u00a0lowest in 2006 (45.56%).<\/p>\n<p>Share of five largest banks in combined assets (%).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/13-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to ARKA\u2019s ranking,\u00a0the largest bank\u00a0by size of assets\u00a0in\u00a02011\u00a0was \u00a0ACBA-Credit\u00a0Agricole Bank -218.6\u00a0billion drams, by 30.1% more than in 2010.\u00a0It accounted for 10.5% of\u00a0the combined assets.<\/p>\n<p>It was followed by\u00a0Ameriabank\u00a0with 201.4\u00a0billion drams\u00a0worth assets which grew by 31.64% from 2010. The third-ranked\u00a0was VTB Bank\u00a0(Armenia),\u00a0whose assets\u00a0exceeded\u00a0182 billion\u00a0drams rising by 43.26% year-on-year to\u00a08.8%\u00a0of the combined assets of the banking system. The fourth\u00a0was HSBC Bank Armenia with 179 billion\u00a0drams assets, a 23.54% increase from a year earlier.
