Deposits in Armenian commercial banks grew 45.3% in January 2012, compared with the same month a year earlier, to more than AMD 1 013.9 billion.<\/p>\n<p>According to the information available on the central bank\u2019s official website, deposits in drams totaled AMD 303 billion in late January 2012 after growing 46.2%, compared with Jan 2011, and deposits in foreign currencies exceeded AMD 710.9 billion in late January 2012 \u2013 44.9% year-on-year growth.<\/p>\n<p>Residents\u2019 deposits totaled AMD 769.6 billion (8.2% year-on-year growth) and accounted for 75.9% of aggregate dram deposits in Armenian banks.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty one commercial banks operated in Armenia in late January 2012.
