In 2012 January Armenian citizens chose to invest their free money in foreign currency savings deposits, which amounted to more than 710.9 billion drams, having increased by 5.9% from December 2011, according to a statement on the official website of the Central Bank of Armenia.<\/p>\n
According to its data, foreign currency savings deposits accounted for 70% of all savings deposits at the end of January. The amount of time foreign currency savings deposits in January increased by 4.2% from 2011 December to 360.9 billion drams, or about 35.6% of all savings deposits kept by Armenia-based banks. Call foreign currency deposits totaled 118.8 billion drams in January, a 4.4% decline from the previous month.<\/p>\n
