Loans extended by Armenian commercial banks for education totaled AMD 2.5 billion in late February 2012 \u2013 18.4% less than the amount of late January 2012.<br \/>\nAccording to the information available on the central bank\u2019s official website, the bulk of education loans extended in February were in foreign currencies (76.5%).<\/p>\n<p>Loans extended for education in foreign currencies totaled AMD 1.9 billion in late February \u2013 21.2% month-on-month decline.<\/p>\n<p>In stead, consumer lending grew 5% over the month reaching AMD 234.1 billion in late February.<br \/>\nTwenty one commercial banks operated in Armenia in late February 2012.
