Armenian economy minister Tigran Davtyan repeated again today that the government is able to ensure a 7 percent economic growth in 2012. The 7 percent growth target was set by president Serzh Sargsyan on June 18\u00a0 as he chaired the first meeting of his new Cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe primary expectation from the government\u2019s work in 2012 is to ensure a 7 percent economic growth,\u201d he said. The initial government projection is 4.2 percent. Last year\u2019s GDP was 4.6 percent.<br \/>\n&#8220;I think that this figure is attainable given the hard work,&#8221;\u00a0 Davtian\u00a0 told a news conference.<br \/>\nHe said optimistic indicators of economic activity for the first half of the year inspire confidence that the target set\u00a0 by the president is quite feasible.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, economic activity index in the first half of 2012 advanced by 7.8 percent from a year before.
