A total of 366,000 vehicles were insured in Armenia by the end of September 30, 2012, chairman of the Association of Insurance Market Participants Andranik Ohanjanyan reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to motor insurers\u2019 bureau, 392,000 vehicles were insured in 2011, Ohanjanyan told a press conference Monday. Yet, he did not mention any figures saying that all information related to car insurance is with the Traffic Police.<\/p>\n<p>Compulsory car insurance was introduced in Armenia on January 1, 2011. According to motor insurers\u2019 bureau, Armenian insurance companies paid about 5,765.3mln drams in 27,019 compulsory car insurance compensations in January-August.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently eight insurance companies operating in Armenia. The Central Bank of Armenia has been monitoring the country\u2019s insurance market since January 1, 2006.
