The Central Bank of Armenia said Monday it had issued a gold commemorative coin dedicated to the 125th anniversary of\u00a0 great Armenian actor of a drama theater Vahram Papazyan.<\/p>\n<p>The bank also issued\u00a0 silver commemorative coins dedicated to the 150th anniversary of a popular painter Stepan Aghajanian and the 100th anniversary of famous Armenian astronomer Benjamin Margaryan and Armenian painter Ara Bekaryan.<\/p>\n<p>Theater masks appear on the gold coin\u2019s obverse, or heads. The nominal value of the coin\u201410,000 drams\u2014is engraved on the background of a curtain\u00a0 at\u00a0 the bottom of the coin. The contour has \u201cHAYASTANI HANRAPETUTYAN KENTRONAKAN BANK\u201d (The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia) inscription in Armenian letters.<br \/>\nThe reverse of the coin, or tails, has a portrait of Papazyan, dates \u201c1888\u201d and \u201c1968\u201d are below, \u201cVAHRAM PAPAZYAN\u201d inscription\u00a0 in Armenian letters is\u00a0 in the right and left sides of the contour.<\/p>\n<p>The coins are made of 900 fine gold of proof quality, its diameter is 22.0 mm, weight\u20148.6 grams. The banks issued 1,000 gold coins of 10,000-dram face value each.<\/p>\n<p>The heads of the coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ara Bekaryan has a fragment from \u201cAshtarak\u201d picture, the face value of 100 drams is engraved at the bottom. \u201cHAYASTANI HANRAPETUTYUN\u201d (The Republic of Armenia) in Armenian letters is engraved at the top and bottom of the coin. The tails of the coin portrays Bekaryan and has a fragment from \u201cQaj Nazar\u201d (Brave Nazar) fairy tale. \u201cARA BEKARYAN\u201d and \u201cARA BEKARYAN 1913-1986\u201d inscriptions in Armenian letters are designed on the edges of the coin.<\/p>\n<p>The obverse of the coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Stepan Aghajanian has a fragment from \u201cThe daughter of the artist\u2019s sister\u201d picture. The face value of 100 drams is engraved at the bottom of the obverse side, \u201cHAYASTANI HANRAPETUTYUN\u201d (The Republic of Armenia) lettering is designed on the top and bottom of the coin. The reverse side portrays the artist as well as palette and brushes . \u201cSTEPAN AGHAJANYAN\u201d in Armenian letters and \u201cSTEPAN AGHAJANIAN\u201d in English letters are engraved at the top and bottom of the coin.<\/p>\n<p>The both coins have the same technical characteristic: the bank issues 500 silver coins each, the face value of which is 1400 drams. The coins are made of 925 fine silver; the size is 28.0\u044540.0 mm and weight\u201428.28 grams. Colored paints were used for the coin production.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, the CB has also issued a silver coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of Beniamin Margaryan. Stars and galaxies appear on the heads of it, the face value of 1000 drams and the year of issue\u20142013\u2014appears at the bottom. \u201cHAYASTANI HANRAPETUTYAN KENTRONAKAN BANK\u201d in Armenian letters (The Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia) is engraved on the contour of the coin. The reverse side illustrates the portrait of the astronomer and the galaxies discovered by him. \u201cBENIAMIN MARGARYAN\u201d in Armenian letters and \u201cBENJAMIN MARGARYAN\u201d\u00a0 in English letters as well as \u201c1913-1985\u201d are engraved at the top and bottom of the side.<\/p>\n<p>The coin was made of 925 fine silver of proof quality; its diameter is 40.0 mm and weight\u201433.6 grams. The bank issued 500 silver coins of 1000 face value each.<\/p>\n<p>Eduard Kurghinyan is an author of the sketches on the coins dedicated to Vahram Papazyan and Ara Bekaryan. Vardan Vardanyan is the author of the other coins.
