{"id":52136,"date":"2013-04-10T16:01:48","date_gmt":"2013-04-10T16:01:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2013\/04\/10\/238149\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:03:54","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:03:54","slug":"vtb-bank-armenia-things-in-cyprus-may-drive-interest-rates-on-deposits-and-loans-down-in-cis-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2013\/04\/10\/52136\/","title":{"rendered":"VTB Bank (Armenia): things in Cyprus may drive interest rates on deposits and loans down in CIS countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, April 10. \/ARKA\/.<\/strong> The current situation in Cyprus\u2019 banking system may drive interest rates on deposits and loans down in the Commonwealth of Independent States, Yuri Gusev, CEO of VTB Bank (Armenia) and chairman of its directorial board, said today answering ARKA News Agency\u2019s question at a news conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInflow of large depositors\u2019 money has intensified to some extent, and I think this will produce a positive effect at micro-levels \u2013 interest rates on bank deposits are thought to go down,\u201d he said. \u201cThis will allow banks to reconsider their lending interests, if they want, and is believed to have favorable impacts on the economy and the banking market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Vsevolod Smakov, vice president and chief of the international business division of Russia\u2019s \u0412\u0422\u041124, on his side, said Cyprus\u2019 banks were very popular among CIS member countries\u2019 citizens.<br \/>\n\u201cWe expect no problems &#8211; we rather expect inflow of clients because of the current situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said things in Cyprus are alarming, first of all for it can trigger further destabilization in the European Union\u2019s financial and banking systems, which will strike hard at all EU countries.<br \/>\nIn his opinion, CIS residents\u2019 money may outflow from the EU banking markets.<br \/>\nIt means the CIS countries\u2019 residents may deposit their money in banks rooted in the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n<p>Smakov stressed that VTB Bank and VTB Bank (Armenia) are segments of a single system of the global services provided to wealthy clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2012, we opened a specialized office Private Banking in Yerevan and can offer good conditions to large depositors either in Armenia or all over the globe,\u201d he said. \u201cThis instability may increase individuals\u2019 interest in cooperation with such banks, among which is VTB Bank.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>VTB Bank Armenia (Armenian Savings Bank before June 2006) joined VTB Group in April 2004. VTB, the second largest bank of Russia, holds 100% of shares of VTB Bank (Armenia). VTB Bank (Armenia) has 69 branches all over Armenia\u2019s territory &#8211; the largest branch network in the country.
