{"id":62239,"date":"2013-09-23T13:00:15","date_gmt":"2013-09-23T13:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2013\/09\/23\/239399\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:07:07","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:07:07","slug":"high-demand-for-armenian-foreign-currency-bonds-is-indication-of-trust-of-international-organizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2013\/09\/23\/62239\/","title":{"rendered":"High demand for Armenian foreign-currency bonds is indication of trust of international organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, September 23. \/ ARKA \/.<\/strong> A senior parliament member from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia was positive today about the first issue of Armenia\u2019s foreign-currency bonds last week.<\/p>\n<p>Armenia\u2019s finance ministry said Friday it sold $750 million seven-year bond to price at a yield of 6.25%, attracting $3.25 billion in orders<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This means that the international organizations are more positive about the Armenian economy,\u2019 Gagik Minasyan, head of a parliament committee on finance and budget affairs, told ARKA.<\/p>\n<p>The main underwriters of the first issue of Armenian foreign-currency bonds are Deutsche Bank AG,\u00a0 HSBC Bank plc and JPMorgan Securities plc .<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a new tool to raise funds, a fairly cheap\u00a0 tool that will enable the government to\u00a0 implement larger programs and get rid of loans with high interest rates that we had been forced to borrow in times of crisis,\u2019 Minasyan said.<\/p>\n<p>According to finance ministry data, Armenia\u2019s\u00a0 public debt (internal and external ) stood at 1.758.7 trillion drams as of late July this year, including some\u00a0 268 billion drams in domestic debt\u00a0 and\u00a0 about 1.5 trillion\u00a0 drams\u00a0 in foreign debt.
