{"id":66636,"date":"2013-11-25T15:02:49","date_gmt":"2013-11-25T15:02:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2013\/11\/25\/239828\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:08:29","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:08:29","slug":"assets-of-armenias-banking-system-2-5-times-as-much-as-in-2008-central-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2013\/11\/25\/66636\/","title":{"rendered":"Assets of Armenia\u2019s banking system 2.5 times as much as in 2008: Central Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, November 25. \/ARKA\/.<\/strong> Aggregate assets of Armenia\u2019s banking system rose from 1trln in 2008 to<br \/>\n2.7trln drams as of the end of September 2013, chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Artur Javadyan<br \/>\nsaid at a reception on the 20th anniversary of Armenian Dram Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was attended also by Armenia\u2019s president Serzh Sargsyan.<\/p>\n<p>Javadyan said average amount of the banking system\u2019s loans was 615 billion drams as of the end of 2008,<br \/>\nwhereas now it is up to 1.6 trillion drams.<\/p>\n<p>Financial mediation increased 2.5 times over the last five years; loans and deposits rose by<br \/>\napproximately 27% on average each, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the Central Bank stressed Armenia recorded reduction in average weighted loan interest rates<br \/>\nby 3-4 percentage points on average.<\/p>\n<p>According to Javadyan, access to financial services has broadened and corporate management level and<br \/>\npublic awareness of financial services have increased in the period.<\/p>\n<p>This creates basis for further advancement, Javadyan said.<\/p>\n<p>There were 21 commercial banks operating in Armenia as of the end of September 2013.
