{"id":67876,"date":"2013-12-12T19:42:21","date_gmt":"2013-12-12T19:42:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2013\/12\/12\/239947\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:08:51","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:08:51","slug":"armenian-finance-ministry-reduced-yields-on-bonds-in-national-currency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2013\/12\/12\/67876\/","title":{"rendered":"Armenian finance ministry reduced yields on bonds in national currency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, December 12. \/ ARKA \/.<\/strong> Armenian ministry of finance said today it will gradually reduce the yields on government bonds in national currency to ensure their proportionality with the yield on bonds in foreign currency.<\/p>\n<p>On September 19\u00a0 the first Armenian\u00a0 Eurobonds were sold on international markets\u00a0 at a relatively high yield of at least 6 percent, reflecting Armenia\u2019s \u201cjunk\u201d credit ratings assigned by agencies like Moody\u2019s and Fitch and netting the government $700 million. The underwriters were\u00a0 Deutsche Bank AG, London Branch, HSBC Bank plc and JPMorgan Securities plc.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said the decision was made in view of international experience that there should not be a significant difference between yields in local and foreign currencies.<\/p>\n<p>According to Armenian Central Bank, the yield on short-term government bonds in Armenian national currency is about 9% , that on mid-term bonds is 13,7 %, and\u00a0 15.6% on long-term bonds.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to some steps the ministry has reduced the yield on bonds with 3 year maturity in national currency to 10.16% from 14.28 % a year earlier .<\/p>\n<p>The yield on long-term government bond placed\u00a0 December 12 was 11.63 % from \u00a016.43 % at the beginning of the year, it said.
