{"id":74850,"date":"2014-04-18T13:39:55","date_gmt":"2014-04-18T13:39:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2014\/04\/18\/240678\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T13:11:05","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T13:11:05","slug":"western-sanctions-against-russias-banks-will-not-affect-armenian-banks-with-russian-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2014\/04\/18\/74850\/","title":{"rendered":"Western sanctions against Russia\u2019s banks will not affect Armenian banks with Russian capital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, April 18. \/ ARKA \/.<\/strong> Western sanctions against Russia\u2019s banks will not affect Armenian banks with Russian capital, said Andranik Grigoryan, head of a Central Bank department in charge of stability and financial system development.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that foreign banks in Armenia are not branches, but subsidiaries of foreign banks, which are subject to prudential regulation rules enforced in Armenia.<\/p>\n<p>He said therefore Western sanctions can in no way affect Armenia-based banks, because they are registered and licensed in Armenia.<\/p>\n<p>The EU and USA have so far imposed visa bans, asset freezes on tens of Russian figures and several banks because of Russia\u2019s behaviour in Ukraine.
