{"id":7811,"date":"2010-02-17T15:17:02","date_gmt":"2010-02-17T15:17:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2010\/02\/17\/230631\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T12:46:19","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T12:46:19","slug":"ebrd-finds-double-dip-crisis-in-armenia-unlikely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2010\/02\/17\/7811\/","title":{"rendered":"EBRD finds double-dip crisis in Armenia unlikely"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, February 17. \/ARKA\/.<\/strong> Helena Schweiger, the chief economist at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, answering the question ARKA News Agency put up to her, said she found double-dip recession unlikely in Armenia.<\/p>\n<p>However, she said, growth is thought to be slow \u2013 some 2% in 2010.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, presenting the EBRD Transition Report in Yerevan, Schweiger said that the steps to be taken by Armenian government to ensure this growth should be connected with improvement of business environment.<\/p>\n<p>She thinks competitive environment and tax administration should be improved.<\/p>\n<p>The EBRD expert said these measures have already been discussed.<\/p>\n<p>She expressed hope that progress would be seen in these areas.<br \/>\nAccording to National Statistical Service of Armenia, the country\u2019s GDP reduced 14.4% in 2009, compared with the same period a year earlier, to AMD 3165.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The government has planned 1.2% economic growth in the 2010 state budget.
