The S&amp;P 500 (GSPC) rose 3.6 points, or 0.2%, to 2082. The Nasdaq (IXIC) was down 16 points, or 0.3%, at 4765.<\/p>\n<p>The Dow registered a new milestone by trading above 18,000 points for the first time in history. It was the blue-chip index\u2019s 36th record close of the year, while the S&amp;P set its 51st all-time high.<\/p>\n<p>The Commerce Department said the U.S. economy grew at an annual pace of 5% in the third quarter, compared to a previous estimate of 3.9%. That follows a 4.6% increase in gross domestic product for the second quarter.
