{"id":9856,"date":"2010-04-09T07:52:13","date_gmt":"2010-04-09T07:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/2010\/04\/09\/230898\/"},"modified":"2024-12-15T12:46:55","modified_gmt":"2024-12-15T12:46:55","slug":"public-confidence-should-safeguard-effectiveness-of-financial-ombudsman-offices-activity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/armbanks.am\/en\/2010\/04\/09\/9856\/","title":{"rendered":"Public confidence should safeguard effectiveness of financial ombudsman office\u2019s activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>YEREVAN, April 9. \/ARKA\/. <\/strong>Enhancement of public awareness and confidence should safeguard effectiveness of Financial Ombudsman Office\u2019s activity, France\u2019s Insurance Ombudsman Francis Frizon told ARKA News Agency\u2019s correspondent.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking Thursday at a conference on financial ombudsman institution, stressed the importance of individual clients, but said that financial organizations are more important.<\/p>\n<p>If they don\u2019t trust, the structure can\u2019t accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>Frizon said he was impressed by the job done by Armenian financial ombudsman office, which handled 400 complaints within a very short period of time.<\/p>\n<p>David Thomas, British financial ombudsman service corporate director, who spoke at the conference as well, said financial ombudsmen should be independent and accessible.<\/p>\n<p>Armenian financial ombudsman office established on January 24, 2009, was the first financial ombudsman institution in the Commonwealth of Independent States.<\/p>\n<p>The office provides free services.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, the Armenian financial ombudsman compensated AMD 26 million to its clients. The financial ombudsman office received 400 complaints that year.<\/p>\n<p>The office considered 57 complaints, of which 61% were decided in favor of clients.
