Dollar ups 0.16 point against Armenian dram

Daniel Azatyan, Chairman of the Union of Banks of Armenia, believes the current number of commercial banks in the country is optimal, but theoretically allows for market consolidation.

The loan portfolio of Armenian banks in the first half of 2026 amounted to 8.8 trillion drams, up 11.5%, reported Daniel Azatyan, head of the Union of Banks of the Republic.

The total assets of Armenia's credit institutions as of June 30, 2026, amounted to 905.17 billion drams, an increase of 2.58% compared to March 31, 2026, and a 5.12% increase from the beginning of the year.

The net inflow of cross-border transfers to individuals in Armenia, received from abroad through the Armenian banking system, amounted to $1.38 billion in January-June 2026, compared to $587.6 million in January-June 2025, according to a report from the Central Bank of the Republic.

According to the decision of the Board of Unibank OJSC dated August 3, 2026, Mher Ananyan has been appointed Acting First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board.
