Dollar-dram exchange transactions total $62.2 million in august at NASDAQ OMX Armenia

YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Dollar-dram exchange transactions totaled $62.2 million or AMD 22.3 billion in August at NASDAQ OMX Armenia.

According to ARKA News Agency’s analysis of the information received from this stock exchange – 18% month-on-month decline (contraction by $13.7 million or AMD 4.9 billion). The number of deals shrank by 57 to 438.

On August 19, the amount of deals hit the record high in August – $6.4 million, and the record low, $900,000, was recorded on August 3.  Not a single euro transaction was effected here in August.

NASDAQ OMX Armenia (former Armenian Stock Exchange, Armex), was established in 2001 as a voluntary merger of 21 broker (dealer) companies.

In January 2008, Nordic exchange operator OMX Group acquired 100% of shares of the Armenian Stock Exchange (Armex) and the Central Depository of Armenia (CDA). After NASDAQ and OMX merged in March 2008, Armex and CDA have become fully owned by the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc.

On January 27, 2009, Armenian Stock Exchange was renamed NASDAQ OMX Armenia.
