Dram deposits in Armenia’s commercial banks shrink 0.6% to amd 256.5 billion in august

YEREVAN, September 28. /ARKA/. Dram deposits in Armenian commercial banks totaled AMD 256.5 billion in late August 2011, after shrinking by 0.6%, compared with the previous month.

According to the information available at Armenian central bank’s official site, residents’ deposits amounted to AMD 246.9 billion and made up 96.3% of the total amount of drams deposited in banks.

Residents’ demand deposits contracted by 3.9% in August, compared with July, and amounted to AMD 133.7 billion (52.1% of total amount of dram deposits), while their time deposits grew 3.5% to AMD 113.3 billion (44.2% of total amount).

Deposits in foreign currencies grew 11.3% to AMD 606.6 billion.

Some 21 commercial banks operated in Armenia in late August. ($1 = AMD 370.38).-0—
