Total deposits in Armenia’s banks amounted to 1,545.4bln drams in first half of 2014

YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. Total deposits from legal entities and individuals in Armenia’s banks amounted to 1,545.4 billion drams in the first half of 2014, an increase of 2.3% compared to the beginning of the year.

A reduction of 0.96% is recorded in deposits over the quarter.

According to ARKA’s Banks of Armenia bulletin for the second quarter, the top five banks in terms of deposits were in the period Ameriabank, Ardshininvestbank, Bank VTB (Armenia), HSBC Bank Armenia and Unibank. These banks accounted for 53.72% of all deposits.

The leader is Ameriabank with its share in total deposits at 14.25%. The bank’s deposits amounted to about 220.5 billion drams, an increase of 10.85% over the quarter.

Ardshininvestbank is the second in the list with 178.2 billion drams (11.53% of all deposits). The bank’s deposits decreased 0.85% over the quarter.

Bank VTB (Armenia) is the third biggest in terms of deposits with about 162.8 billion drams (10.52% of all deposits), an increase of 5.7% over the quarter.

Deposits in HSBC Bank Armenia totaled 158.4 billion drams (10.23% of all deposits), a 2.4% reduction in the quarter.

Unibank closes the top five list with 111.3 billion drams (7.19% of all deposits), a 2% reduction.

There were a total of 21 commercial banks operating in Armenia as of the end of June 2014. ($1=410.26drams). -0-
