Armenian central bank keeps refinancing rate unchanged at 6 percent

YEREVAN, March 28. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Central Bank said it decided at the meeting today to keep the refinancing rate unchanged at 6%.

The regulator began cutting the rates from the second half of 2015 reducing it 8 times in 2016 alone. The latest cut was in mid-February.

In an interview with Reuters earlier this month, Armenia’s central bank chairman Artur Javadyan signalled a halt to the easing cycle, saying the bank would now be more cautious in deciding whether to cut rates because of potential economic and financial risks. -0-
