During the meeting, Tigran Khachatryan outlined macroeconomic developments and the key directions of Armenia’s fiscal policy.
The parties emphasized the importance of continued cooperation to enhance fiscal planning capabilities and exchanged views on reform issues of mutual interest.
Armenia’s cooperation with the IMF
Armenia has been a member of the International Monetary Fund since May 28, 1992.
The country’s cooperation with the IMF encompasses consultations on macroeconomic policy, financial stability, public financial management, tax policy, and the development of the statistical system.
On December 1, 2025, the IMF Executive Board approved a new 36-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) for Armenia worth 128.8 million SDR (100% of Armenia’s IMF quota, or approximately $175 million). This arrangement aims to assist the authorities in maintaining macroeconomic stability and advancing the structural reform agenda, while also providing a safeguard against uncertainty.
The SBA program supports macroeconomic stability and the implementation of reforms; the Armenian authorities have stated their intention to treat the arrangement as a precautionary financing facility.
