Armenian central bank joins network for Greening Financial Systems

YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. On April 15, 2020, the Central Bank of Armenia became a full member of the Network for Greening Financial System (NGFS).

The Central Bank said site was created in December 2017 in Paris, during the conference “One Planet”. Its co-founders were the central banks of eight countries – France, England, the Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, China, Sweden and Mexico.

Currently, members of the NGFS are the central banks of about 63 countries or entities responsible for the regulation and control of the financial sector. The IMF, World Bank, IFC, BIS, EBRD, EIB, Basel Committee and IOSCO act as observers.

The site’s goal is to develop international opportunities and stimulate the development of green financing under the Paris Agreement. To this end, the activities of NGFS are aimed at assisting member countries not only in introducing best practices and standards of green financing, but also in carrying out analytical work in this direction. -0-
