Armenian national currency depreciates against greenback

 ТYEREVAN, September 9. / ARKA /. The U.S Dollar traded today at 375 Drams at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange rising by 1.94 points from September 8. According to data, provided to ARKA by the stock exchange, three transactions were effected today worth a total $1 million (an equivalent of 375 million drams). No transactions in EURO were effected, NASDAQ OMX Armenia said.

According to Mikael Verdian, an analyst from FOREX CLUB, the depreciation of the Dram is a natural process related to the strengthening of the dollar at global markets. He said the demand for the greenback at the local market began to grow last week and the trend still continues due to the uncertain situation on world markets.

“The high demand for dollars will continue into next week,” he said, predicting that the exchange rate of one U.S. will rise to 378 – 382 Drams The average exchange rate on September 9 was 372.87 Drams per one USD. M.V. -0-
