Total amount of transactions at NASDAQ OMX Armenia in January decline by 25.3%

YEREVAN, February 9. /ARKA/. The total amount of transactions in USD at Nasdaq OMX Armenia stock exchange in January 2012 was $61.6 million, an equivalent of 23.9 billion drams. According to an ARKA analysis, based on NASDAQ OMX Armenia reports, the figure fell by 25.3% or $20.9 million as compared with December 2011. The total number of transactions in January declined by 24.3% to 406.

The largest amount of transactions at NASDAQ OMX Armenia was recorded on January 10 in the amount of about $9.3 million and the smallest on January 9, in the amount of $100 thousand. During the reporting period no transactions in euro were effected. The average weighted exchange rate of USD at NASDAQ OMX in January was 388.09 drams.

In January 2008, Nordic exchange operator OMX Group acquired 100% of shares of the Armenian Stock Exchange (Armex) and the Central Depository of Armenia (CDA). After the combination of NASDAQ and OMX in February 2008, Armex and CDA have become fully owned by the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. On January 27, 2009, “Armenian Stock Exchange” ojsc was officially renamed as “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc. On June 5, 2009, “NASDAQ OMX Armenia” ojsc became the owner of 100% of the shares of the “Central Depository of Armenia” ojsc.-0-
