About 62% of bankers surveyed by Central Bank of Armenia in 3rd Q forecast 2.5-5.5% 12-month inflation

YEREVAN, November 22. /ARKA/. About 62% of the bankers surveyed by the Central Bank of Armenia in the third quarter forecasted 2.5-5.5% 12-month inflation.

The regulator is periodically conducting surveys to be aware of financial organizations and households’ inflation outlooks.

In the central bank’s previous survey, the 2.5-5.5% inflation was predicted by 57% of respondents.
The rate of the banks believing that inflation will be between 5.5 and 8.5% contracted from 38.1% in the previous poll to 33% now.

The credit organizations surveyed by the central bank divided into those 41% forecasting 2.5-to-5.5-percent inflation and those 41% who predicted 5.5-8.5%.

Households’ outlooks, in the two latest polls, were closed to the 4.5% projected in the budget.
According to the central bank’s forecast, inflation will stand at 3.4% by the end of this year. The regulator now changed its previous forecast upward.

In the 2012 government budget, inflation is projected at 4% (±1.5%). -0—-
