YEREVAN, September 24. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan and a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)—led by Elisabetta Falcetti, Managing Director for Turkey and the Caucasus—agreed to advance their cooperation agenda during a meeting on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Economy’s press service, the meeting focused on key areas of Armenia’s economic policy and the EBRD’s involvement in their implementation.
With a view to diversifying Armenian exports and accessing new markets, Papoyan proposed continuing discussions on better aligning EBRD-EU support instruments for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with Armenia’s export strategy and industrial priorities.
The parties agreed to continue their joint efforts.
The EBRD has been operating in Armenia since 1992. As of the end of August 2026, the Bank had invested a total of approximately €3.2 billion across 249 projects in the country, with a current portfolio volume of around €1.12 billion. The private sector accounts for 71% of the portfolio. In 2025, the EBRD allocated a record €426 million to Armenia for the implementation of 26 projects. The Bank’s key areas of activity include the development of the financial and private sectors, transport and sustainable infrastructure, SME support, energy efficiency improvements, and the development of renewable energy.
