YEREVAN, November 2. /ARKА/. The Central Bank intervened in the market and acquired approximately $1.9 billion from the beginning of the year through September, Armenian Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan stated in parliament while presenting the draft state budget for 2027.
“Remittances continue to grow at a rapid pace. From January to August, net inflows increased by 21.5%, including 27.8% from Russia and 12.9% from other countries,” he explained.
As a result, according to the minister, Armenia’s international gross reserves are at a historically high level of $6.7 billion. At the same time, Hovhannisyan noted, the dram continues to strengthen. As Marty Galstyan, Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, noted at the end of October this year, the regulator periodically conducts currency interventions to prevent serious shocks in the foreign exchange market amid a significant influx of foreign capital.
According to the Central Bank, the net inflow of cross-border transfers to individuals in Armenia, received from abroad through the Armenian banking system, amounted to $1.8 billion in January-August 2026, compared to $889.3 million in January-August 2025.
