Statistical service head: Armenia’s GDP makes up 85.6% of its 2008 GDP

YEREVAN, March 15. /ARKA/. Armenia’s 2009 GDP made up 85.6% of its 2008 GDP, Stepan Mnatsakanyan, chairman of National Statistical Service of Armenia, said Friday summarizing the 2009 results.

He said that GDP amounted to AMD 3165.5 billion ($8.7 billion) in 2009 against AMD 36461.1 billion ($11.9 billion) in 2008.

Mnatsakanyan also said that consumer prices index was 103.4% in 2009, compared with the previous year, and 106.5% in December 2009, compared with Dec 2008.

He said that construction sector faced 36.4% decline in 2009, industry fell 7.8% and trade turnover reduced 4%, while services sector, excluding trade, enjoyed 1.3% growth.

According to the National Statistical Service, Armenian economy dropped 14.4% in 2009. —0—
