Armenia to join CIS monetary regulation agreement

YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. On Thursday, Armenian government approved an agreement on general principles of monetary regulation policy and monetary control in CIS countries.

Finance Minister Vache Gabrielyan said that the agreement would be signed among CIS countries for an uncertain term.

“The agreement is focused on effective cooperation in monetary regulation area,” he said. “Its aim is to reduce and later lift restrictions on currency transactions and outline common directions of monetary policy in monetary regulation area.”

The agreement is expected to be signed on October 18 or 19 at a CIS prime-ministerial meeting in Saint Petersburg.

The prime ministers will also outline further steps the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Preparations for a new free economic zone agreement and implementation of the second, 2012-2015 stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for 2020 are on the agenda as well.-0—
