Armenian Central Bank’s commemorative coins win prizes at coin constellation 2012 international contest

YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Commemorative coins issued by the Central Bank of Armenia in 2011 have won prizes at the sixth international commemorative coin contest “Coin Constellation” held on June 14 in Moscow, Russia, the Armenian regulator’s press office reported today.

A series of silver coins “Armenian Chachkars” were awarded the second prize in the nomination The Collection of the Year, and the golden coin The 2200th Anniversary of Foundation of Artashat won the third prize in the nomination The Commemorative Coin of the Year.

Some 42 organizations from 29 countries took part in this annual contest. National banks, mints and supplier organizations were among them.

Central banks of Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Armenia and Russia as well as mints of Australia, Austria, Spain, UK, Canada, Andorra, Poland, Singapore, USA, Finland, New Zealand, France, Israel, Saint Petersburg and Moscow took part in this contest.

Coin Invest Trust organization from Lichtenstein, Emporium Hamburg from Germany, NumisCollect from the Netherlands, Pamp, International Coin House from Switzerland, Treasuries of Oz from Australia and other organizations competed for prizes as well.

More than 250 commemorative coins and 28 collections of coins issued in 2011 were presented at the contest.

The number of contenders hit the record high this year. The contest jurors were 40 experts at prominent museums, auction houses, supplier organizations, numismatic associations and specialized publishing houses. -0—
