Dram deposits in Armenian banks grew by half percent in August to 327.5 billion

YEREVAN, October 17. / ARKA /. The amount of deposits in Armenia’s national currency, the dram, kept at 21 Armenia-based banks grew by 0.5 percent in late August from the previous month to 327.5 billion drams, the Central Bank of Armenia said in a statement posted on its official website.
It said About 95% of the deposits in drams (311 billion drams) were owned by resident depositors.

According to the Central Bank, demand deposits of residents made 43.6% of the total amount, standing at over 142.9 billion drams, by 2 percent less than in July. Time deposits accounted for 51% of the total volume of deposits in drams standing at more than 168.1 billion drams in late August.

The amount of deposits in foreign currency increased in August by 5.4 percent when compared with the previous month to an equivalent of 795.8 billion drams. ($ 1 – 407.69 drams). -0-
