Armenian banks’ gold transactions dropped 30.7% to 586.3mln drams in 2012

YEREVAN, February 25. /ARKA/. Gold transactions by Armenian commercial banks (deposits, standardized ingots and commemorative coins) amounted to 586.3mln drams in 2012, a 30.7% reduction against the year before.

An analysis made by ARKA Agency showed that Conversebank is the leader in amount of precious metal transactions in the period with its share in the overall volume of such transactions at about 20.13%. Gold transactions effected by Conversebank totaled 118mln drams by the end if December 2012, a reduction of 19.3% compared to 2011.

The following banks are on the top five list of banks with highest gold transactions: Ameriabank – 111.1mln drams, 75.6% reduction (share at 18.95%), Unibank – 87.6mln drams, 1.3% growth (14.95%), Armswissbank – 84.5mln drams, 70.7% increase (14.42%) and Armeconombank – 57mln drams, 3.85-time increase (9.72%).

Of 21 commercial banks operating in Armenia, 11 effected gold operations in the reporting year.
