Penetration rate of payment cards about 90% and of credit cards only 17% in Russia

YEREVAN, April 25. /ARKA/. Penetration rate of payment cards is currently about 90%, while consumers’ use of credit cards is 17% only, president of Russian GE Money Bank Holger Laubenthal said in his interview to Banks.ru.

Banks started offering more complicated products, it means financial literacy is growing, Laubenthal said. Yet, according to the banker, the current level of financial literacy is not sufficient and banks should offer more simple products and should use responsible lending practice.

The banker said it is extremely important that banks help borrowers avoid overdue payments and provide all the required information about price parameters. –0–
