Armenia’s commercial banks purchased over $90.5 mln last week

YEREVAN, August 12. /ARKA/. Armenian commercial banks purchased over $90.5 million at an average weighted rate of 408.84 drams per $1 from August 5 to 9 at intra-banking market of foreign currency, the press service of Armenia’s Central Bank reported.

At the same period, the banks obtained nearly 7.6 million euros and over 854.7 million rubles at average weighted rates of 542.69 drams per €1 and 12.34 drams per 1 ruble respectively.

The banks sold about $94.9 million, nearly €11.1 million and nearly 87.8 million rubles at average weighted rates of 409.81 drams, 546.07 drams and 12.52 drams respectively.

Moreover, from 5 to 9 August AMD loans provided by the Armenian banks totaled 37 billion drams, and USD loans were $58.9 million. ($1 – 407.48 drams).–0–

The average market exchange rate of the U.S. dollar to the Armenian dram on March 7, 2025, remained at 394.58 drams, unchanged compared to March 6.

Central Bank leaves refinancing rate unchanged taking into account high uncertainty in US economic policy

The Central Bank of Armenia decided today to leave the refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75% taking into account a set of factors such as  the continued high uncertainty surrounding the US economic policy, declining confidence in the global economy, growth slowdown and  a possible  weakening demand in Armenia, the head of the regulator Martin Galstyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
